Recently I came across this article on Breeding Systems and Selection by Mimi Busk-Downey.

An excellent article that not only addresses the issues related to the more commonly known breeding systems, but also addresses the “Like to Like” breeding within a small breed and the unfortunate but much practiced “Monkey with the Typewriter” scenario.

Mrs. Mimi Busk-Downey and her husband Dale have succesfully been breeding Peruvian Horses on their Crescent Moon Ranch in Alberta, Canada since 1974.
